With a passion for fostering empathetic connections and nurturing personal growth, Deb Porter has embarked on a remarkable journey as a mentor, educator, and leader. A consummate practitioner of active listening and a dedicated advocate for open dialogue, Deb's career has been marked by a commitment to meaningful communication and compassionate support. 

Deb's career took flight with the establishment of HOLD Hearing Out Life Drama in Reno, NV, in July 2021.  As the founder and visionary behind this unique service, Deb's mission is to impact the world through education in active listening and emotional intelligence. Deb uses her education in combination from her life experiences to bring help to those who seek relief and clarity through HOLD's active listening service.  Deb skillfully guides others through active listening courses and 1:1 conversations, giving them knowledge they need to achieve their goals.  Her integrity and compassion led her away from her original path of serving in the United Methodist Church when a family member announced their LGBTQ+ identity. Following her departure from the UMC, she raised two children and discovered the true importance of listeners in her own life when her husband became critically ill.  Tenaciously advocating for her husband and her 2 gifted children honed her abilities into diverse talents often relegated to soft skills, but which Deb calls "essential skills." Deb's academic pursuits have been equally distinguished. Armed with a Master of Divinity (MDiv) with a Specialization in Pastoral Care & Counseling, her knowledge has been complemented by hands-on experience through Clinical Pastoral Education units at Rockford Memorial Hospital. 

Beyond her impressive professional achievements, Deb Porter's greatest strength lies in her ability to mentor and inspire others. With her guidance, individuals discover the power of empathetic communication, learn to navigate life's challenges with grace, and embrace personal growth with open arms.
